CMHA Rules of Play
The CMHA rules of play will be available here.
Injury Reports
Should
an injury occur during a game or practice, a Hockey Canada Injury Report
MUST be filled out by the acting trainer for the player's
team. The form is comprehensive, but please keep additional notes as necessary
to ensure an accurate recollection of the events resulting in the injury.
An injury report form in pdf format can be downloaded here (Hockey
Canada Injury Report Form).
Coaching Information
Please note that the CMHA rules for
police checks have changed for the 2008-2009 season.
All on-ice personel require a police
check to be shown to John Copp (CMHA President) by December
15th. Any on-ice, or bench personnel that have not shown
the required police check by this date will be automatically suspended
for 1 game. Those individuals will then have until the start of
the playoffs or January 30th (which every comes first) to show a
valid police check. Individuals that have not shown a police
check by this second date will be suspended indefinitely
until such time as a police check has been shown.
If you require a police check, please
contact John for a CMHA letter so that
you can get your police check done at reduced cost.

3. All coaches,
assistant coaches, trainers, on-ice helpers and managers must show
a valid police check to the CMHA President (or designate) by Dec
15th of the current season. Failure to show a police check by this
date will result in a 1-game suspension. Failure to show a police
check by the start of the CMHA playoffs will result in an indefinite
suspension until such time as a police check is produced. Police
checks from previous years will be accepted PROVIDED the volunteer
has been a continuous volunteer each year since the police check
was first issued.

On-Ice Requirements
To participate in on-ice activities, all volunteers must
fulfill certain requirements including attending a Speak Out clinic
and having a police background check performed. If you would like
to volunteer as an on-ice member of a team, please complete one of the
downloadable application forms from above and submit it to the CMHA
VP (or CMHA President until a Jr. VP is appointed) in charge of the
division you are applying for (Hockey School --> Atom, Ross Ireland;
PeeWee --> Juvenile, John Paxton).
In addition, teams in the
Novice division and above require a Trainer and although not required
by the Hamilton Minor Hockey Council (except at the Select and Hub levels),
CMHA is working towards having a Development Coach Level 1 on the bench
for each team above Tyke.
The following table outlines
the Hamilton Minor Hockey Council requirements for each division in which
CMHA has teams. Note that a coach may not act as coach and trainer on
one team.
